Suspected war criminal arrested in Bosnia

Police in Bosnia have arrested a Bosnian Croat on suspicion of committing war crimes during the conflict in the former Yugoslavia.

Officials said the man, Dominik Ilijasevic, was detained in Kiseljak west of the capital, Sarajevo and remanded in custody in the nearby town of Zenica.

A United Nation spokesman said the International War Crimes Tribunal in The Hague, which has authority over such cases, had approved the arrest and given the go-ahead for a local prosecution.

Unofficial reports say the accused man is alleged to have taken part in the killing of Muslim villagers at Stupni Do in central Bosnia in 1993.
