Ice-skaters take advantage of Amsterdam's frozen canals

Parts of Amsterdam's historic canal system have frozen over for the first time in over a decade, and amateur ice-skaters have taken full advantage.

People used moored boats to climb down to the impromptu ice rinks.

City water authorities banned tourist canal cruisers on parts of the canal system, in order to let them to freeze over.
