What happened at Sobibor?

The trial of alleged Nazi war criminal John Demjanjuk starts next week in Munich's state court.

Demjanjuk, now 89, is accused of assisting in the murder of 27,900 Jews at a former Nazi concentration camp at Sobibor, in Nazi-occupied Poland during World War II.

He was extradited from the US to Germany in May 2009.

The BBC's Steve Rosenberg visits the site of the death camp to explain the fate that befell the Jews who were sent there.
