Blair out of race to be EU president


European leaders are gathering in Brussels in an effort to overcome political differences and unite behind a single candidate for the EU's first ever president.

Former British prime minister Tony Blair has dropped out of the race to be president , the current front runner is said to be Belgium's Prime Minister, Herman Van Rompuy.

Gavin Hewitt reports.
