Services remember world war dead

Services of commemoration have been held around the world to mark the end of World War I in 1918.

In Australia and Philippines, veterans laid wreaths, while in Afghanistan at the British Army base Camp Bastion, troops held a two minute silence.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy and the German chancellor Angela Merkel rekindled the flame on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in France.

In the US President Obama and his wife attended a Veterans Day ceremony.
