Berlin marks demise of the Wall

World leaders have gathered in Germany as thousands of Berliners marked 20 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall.

UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown, US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton and German Chancellor Angela Merkel were among those who addressed the huge crowds that braved heavy rain to mark the occasion.

Replica sections of the Wall, which together spanned more than a mile, were toppled to symbolise the historic event before a fireworks display lit up the skies above the Brandenburg Gate.
