Arctic Sea crew taken to Cape Verde

The crew and suspected hijackers of the Arctic Sea were brought to the Cape Verde island of Sal on their way to Russia on Wednesday.

The 15-strong Russian crew and eight suspected hijackers have since landed at a military airfield near Moscow.

The Arctic Sea was said to have gone missing on 30 July as it rounded the north-western corner of France.

Speculation about what happened to the ship has included suggestions of piracy, a mafia dispute, a commercial row, smuggling or trafficking.
