Fake cigarettes cost EU billions


One in six cigarettes smoked in the United Kingdom is fake or has been smuggled into the country, according to a leading tobacco company.

It costs governments across the European Union billions of dollars in lost revenue, but as the price of cigarettes increases with taxation, the illicit trade grows.
