Women and Skippy guard Buckingham Palace

Women have performed sentry duty outside the Queen's official residence in London for the first time.

The Changing of the Guard ceremony outside Buckingham Palace included four women soldiers from the Australian Federation Guard, whose presence marks the centenary of Australia becoming part of the Commonwealth.

The Australian soldiers stamped their own culture on this normally very British parade by playing one of the country's most popular songs, Waltzing Matilda, and the music from a classic Australian television show, 'Skippy'.
