Protesters target economic meeting in Italy

Police in the northern Italian city of Bologna have clashed with protesters trying to disrupt a meeting of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development.

The demonstrators tried to break through a cordon around the conference venue, but were beaten back by police in riot gear.

Reports say at least three people were injured.

It's the third international gathering in a month to be targeted by demonstrators protesting at the effects of the increasingly globalised economy.

The OECD meeting is discussing the impact of globalisation on the world's small and medium-sized businesses.
