Russia accuses Ukraine over gas

Russia has accused Ukraine of shutting down three of the four pipelines for EU-bound Russian gas, after several European countries including Turkey and Romania began to report massive reductions in gas supplies on Tuesday.

Deputy Chief Executive Alexander Medvedev of Russian energy giant Gazprom told journalists in London that as a result of Ukraine shutting down the pipelines, "the current flow of gas from Russia to Europe via Ukraine is approximately seven times less than normal".

Russia stopped supplying gas to Ukraine last week in a row about unpaid bills.
