Crown Dependencies' new minister

Lord Willie Bach: Pic Ministry of Justice
Lord Bach is the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Justice

A new minister responsible for relations between the Isle of Man, Jersey, Guernsey and the British government has been appointed.

Lord Willie Bach has replaced Michael Wills as the minister responsible for the Crown Dependencies.

The islands are not part of the United Kingdom or the European Union, but are "possessions" of the British Crown with their own independent administrations.

People living in the dependencies are British citizens.

Lord Bach, a Labour peer since 1998, is the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Justice.

The married father-of-three has previously worked for the Ministry of Defence and the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
