Italian prosecutors have asked a judge to charge three suspects held over the death of British student Meredith Kercher with murder.

Miss Kercher, 21, of Coulsdon, south London, was found dead in her bedroom in Perugia on 3 November.

Prosecutors want to charge American Amanda Knox, 21, and her ex-boyfriend Italian Raffaele Sollecito, 21.

They also want to charge Ivory Coast citizen Rudy Hermann Guede, 24. All deny any wrongdoing.

A judge will now have to decide whether to grant the prosecutors' request and order a trial.

Last month prosecutors formally concluded their inquiry.

Miss Kercher was found strangled and stabbed in the house she shared with Miss Knox.
