Austrian bishops want Vatican action on Cardinal accused of molestation
Austria's Roman Catholic Bishops have called on the Pope to make a decision as soon as possible in the case of the former head of Austria's Catholic Church, Cardinal, Hans Hermann Groer, who is accused of sexually molesting boys and monks. The Vatican is already investigating the allegations against Cardinal Groer, who resigned as archbishop of Vienna in 1995 over the allegations. The Bishops said the credibility of the church was at stake. The Pope is due to visit Austria in June. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
