Feminist academic Germaine Greer "assaulted"

Police in Britain have been investigating an alleged attack on the internationally-known feminist academic, Germaine Greer.

Dr Greer has alleged that, in an incident at her country home in southern England, she was briefly held captive and assaulted by a female student. The incident is said to have taken place on Monday night. A woman has been charged with causing actual bodily harm, and unlawful imprisonment, and will appear before magistrates in a week's time May 4th.

Germaine Greer rose to prominence thirty years ago when her book The Female Eunuch was published. More recently she produced The Whole Woman - a major work on the state of women's liberation.
