EU food aid for Ethiopia

The European Union has announced that it has approved a grant of nearly two-million pounds in emergency food aid for Ethiopia.

It said the funds would enable the InternationaI Commitee of the Red Cross to bring food to people in four districts of southern Ethiopia which were among the worst affected by the present drought.

More than four-hundred-thousand tons of food would be available for this year, with another one-hundred-and-ten thousand tons for the beginning of next year.
