Local authorities in northern Italy have suspended a teacher who performed as a porn star in her spare time.
Anna Ciriani was banned after a video from an erotic festival in Berlin in October was posted on YouTube.
Ms Ciriani, dubbed the "pornoprof" in the Italian media, has defended herself in a blog.
The suspension has also triggered a storm of internet postings, some of which encouraged her to appeal against the decision.
The head of the regional educational authority in Friuli-Venezia Giulia had ruled that Ms Ciriani's "activities outside school have been grave and in contrast with educational action", the Corriere della Sera newspaper reported.
Her behaviour had been the subject of local debate for some time.
Five years ago pupils at the school in Pordenone, north-eastern Italy, displayed downloaded pictures of their teacher on walls.
Last year, she transferred from a secondary school to evening classes for immigrants following protests by parents.
Ms Ciriani, who calls herself Madameweb, said in an internet posting that the decision to transfer was her own.
She also defended herself, responding to the criticisms of a colleague on an internet blog.
"My behaviour at school has always been extremely professional and upright. Always punctual, never in provocative clothes, never made up, never (wearing) heels," she said.
"As teachers we have first and foremost to guarantee a good cultural preparation as well as helping the individual grow and mature."
Her private activities should not have a bearing on her job as a teacher, she added.
"I don't publish my photos wherever, rather on sites for adults that are banned for minors in which people who share their own desires and their own sexual choices meet and discuss.
"I don't have second jobs and I don't earn money with my body," she said.
