Albania accuses Greek media of racism
The Albanian embassy in Athens has accused the Greek media of racism for blaming a recent increase in crime on Albanian immigrants. An embassy statement said the way the media reported the issue was creating an impression that all crimes in Greece were committed by Albanians. The complaint followed news that local councillors in the town of Keramidi, near the border with Albania, have voted to impose a night-time curfew on all Albanian residents. Police said the curfew, which is illegal, was being enforced by local youths. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
