Briton held in Swedish HIV case

A Swedish court has remanded a British man in custody for allegedly infecting underage girls with HIV.

Christer Merrill Aggett kept a diary of his sexual encounters with at least 130 girls, a Stockholm court heard. Two of the girls have tested positive for HIV.

Mr Aggett has admitted one charge of serious assault and several of attempted serious assault.

He reportedly found his victims through internet chatrooms. Police are urging the victims to have HIV tests.

Mr Aggett, 32, was arrested after his landlord allegedly found pictures of him performing sexual acts with young girls, as well as HIV medications.

He was born in Britain but is thought to have lived in Sweden since he was a child.

"We are looking for another 130 girls to find out if they have had sex with the man or just spoken to him," police spokeswoman Diana Sundin said.

The encounters allegedly took place between 2003 and 2006.
