Ten people have been killed in an explosion at a cafe in the Russian city of Orsk, emergency officials say.

The explosion destroyed the building housing the cafe, located in a market. Orsk is in the Ural mountains near Russia's border with Kazakhstan.

A spokesman for Russia's emergency ministry, Viktor Beltsov, said the cause of the blast was as yet unclear.

Investigators told state-run TV that they suspected arson. Five men and five women died, including the cafe's owner.

According to the AFP news agency, the 10 victims were all found in a corner of the cafe.
