An estimated 200,000 Serbs fled Krajina in 1995

Serbian prosecutors have sent a video allegedly showing the murder of a Serb man by Croatian soldiers to the Hague International War Crimes Tribunal.

The video was allegedly made during a Croatian attack on the self-declared Serb republic of Krajina in 1995.

The footage appears to show the murder of a Serb civilian whose hands were raised in surrender.

Croatia has denied involvement and suggested a military unit from Bosnia-Hercegovina was to blame.

Bosnia-Hercegovina prosecutors are investigating the amateur video, which was broadcast on Friday by Belgrade-based B92 TV station.

The Croatian interior ministry has also been asked to investigate.

Serbian President Boris Tadic said the Croatian government should make it their priority to punish war crimes.

"I expect and demand from all political structures in Serbia and other regional structures to work on punishing war crimes because this is a precondition for establishing normal and good-neighbourly relations," he said.

The republic of Serb Krajina was a self-proclaimed entity in Croatia, lasting from 1991 to 1995, until a Croat offensive known as Operation Storm brought it under their control.

The military operation forced the exodus of about 200,000 Serbs who fled into Bosnia and Serbia.

Hundreds of Serb civilians were killed - mostly elderly people who stayed on after their families had left.

In 2001, General Ante Gotovina was indicted by the Hague tribunal for alleged crimes committed by Croatian forces during Operation Storm.

Former Croatian General Ante Gotovina, who led the offensive, is being tried at The Hague in relation to the killing and forced eviction of ethnic Serb civilians.

He was captured in December after spending four years in hiding.
