The accident happened at rush hour
Three people including a child were killed when a school bus collided with a truck in northern Germany.

Eleven people were injured, two of them seriously, in the accident which happened as the bus took children to school in Coppenbruegge, near Hanover.

Police say a truck collided head on with the bus and overturned it.

The cause of the accident was not immediately clear, but there has been snow in the region recently and police say the road was slippery.

German television said the accident happened at around 0800 (0700 GMT).

"A truck travelling in the opposite direction slid into oncoming traffic and sliced the bus open from the driver's seat to the back," police spokesman Heinz Mikus said.
