Russian leader announces US visit
Vladimir Putin
Russian President Vladimir Putin is to go to Washington in two weeks' time for talks with US President George W Bush.

The Kremlin said the two men would discuss a range of pressing international and bilateral issues at their meeting on 16 September.

It added that Mr Putin had decided to go to the US capital following an invitation by Mr Bush.

Presidents Bush and Putin last met in early July at the G8 summit in Gleneagles, Scotland.
