The British Defence Secretary, George Robertson, is going to Kosovo later today.
He is visiting the headquarters of the international peacekeeping force, K-FOR, and British troops serving in the province.
He is also due to take a brief walk along the streets of the capital, Pristina. The BBC defence correspondent, who's in Kosovo, says the K-FOR mission is generally going well, but the force has not yet been able to convince the Serb population of Kosovo that it is safe to stay, or prevent acts of violence, such as the burning of Serb and gypsy homes. In a separate development, NATO officials are due to begin a survey in Kosovo to assess the effectiveness of the alliance's air campaign and find out how much damage it really did, particularly to Yugoslav armoured vehicles.
