Rain hits French GP qualifier

MOTOR RACING: and heavy rain has wreaked havoc in the run-up to Sunday's French Grand Prix.

Most of the leading drivers will start well down the grid - world champion Mika Hakkinen in fourteenth place.

His main rival Michael Schumacher is sixth - his Ferrari teammate Eddie Irvine only just qualified in seventeenth place. In pole position is Brazil's Rubens Barrichello in his Stewart-Ford - a first for the team. Second is Jean Alesi in his Sauber, with the Prost of Olivier Panis third.
