Book boost for Christmas lights
A town mouse could hold the key to saving the Christmas lights in Guernsey.

Cash-strapped organisers have called for donations to put on the St Peter Port lights display this year.

Local author Liz Fisher, who has written a series of stories about animals for each parish, said the proceeds of her Christmas tale, Pierre the St Peter Port Mouse, would go towards the town lights appeal.

Mrs Fisher said she had always loved Christmas in Guernsey and thought it would not be the same without the lights in town.

She said: "I feel that this is a very magical moment in St Peter Port, when Santa comes to church and the children rush down to see him.

"When I heard that the lights may not be possible, I brought forward the book to this year and will donate the profits to the Christmas lights."
