Hosepipe ban proves success
Water running from a tap
A hosepipe ban has reduced demand by 25%
Jersey people have reduced the amount of water they use since a hosepipe ban was introduced.

Jersey's New Waterworks Company says demand has fallen by 25%.

But the water company remains concerned about reservoir levels, which are at their lowest for a number of years.

If it does not rain soon, it may have to consider looking at other options to save water.

Managing director and engineer, Howard Snowdon, said garden watering could be banned.

"We hope we don't have to, but it all depends on weather forecasts for late summer and autumn.

"If we are going to have a dry autumn, we may have to place restrictions on non-essential watering."
