British Vicar Charged
A Church of England vicar has appeared in court in Bucharest, charged with having sexual relations with a Romanian boy of fourteen. Prosecutors say the vicar, Michael Taylor, was found in bed with the boy at an apartment near Bucharest's main railway station. The vicar, who was refused bail, told the court through an interpreter that he deeply regretted what had happened. Correspondents say Romania has become a magnet for foreign paedophiles because of thousands of homeless children living on the streets. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
