Safer journey for pupils
A new footpath in St Peter Port should provide a safer journey to and from school for the pupils at Amherst.

Following a walking audit by the Traffic Committee's Vulnerable Road Users Working Party, it was deemed necessary to provide a safer alternative.

Walking audits are carried out in conjunction with local schools around the Island.

They aim to identify areas where pedestrian safety can be improved.

Alternative route

Amherst Junior and Infant School is located close to a busy main road in St Peter Port.

Following a survey of the area, the Traffic Committee plans to create an alternative route for pedestrians.

The footpath will be located in a field adjacent to Guelles Road, running from the school towards Beau Sejour.
