Officers released in corruption probe
Allegations of corruption are being investigated
Three police officers in the Republic of Ireland have been released after questioning as part of an ongoing inquiry into corruption.

The gardai were arrested in Donegal on Saturday by members of the Carty Team.

They were later released without charge and a file is being prepared for the country's Director of Public Prosecutions.

The team was set up by the Irish Government last year to investigate allegations of corruption and misconduct against some gardai in the county.

It is understood the three, who include a sergeant, are being questioned about making false reports and wasting garda time.

The tribunal is examining allegations of harassment and claims that officers divided up IRA arms finds, later reburying them and faking discoveries to improve promotion prospects.

One of the alleged finds was across the border in Northern Ireland at Strabane in County Tyrone.

The inquiry is also dealing with allegations of how police handled a suspicious death in Donegal and that some officers planted evidence.
