In pictures: Russia's avalanche
Russian emergency workers are continuing to search for 100 missing people after a powerful avalanche hit a village in southern Russia late on Friday night.
So far five bodies have been recovered from the deluge of mud and snow which swamped a village in the republic of North Ossetia, about 940 miles (1,500 km) south-east of Moscow.
The avalanche travelled down the mountain at about 35km/h, smashing everything in its way
People sought information about their missing relatives
The avalanche left a trail of utter devastation
Rescue workers picked their way through the debris
In places, the mud and ice were 40 metres (130 feet) deep
About 30 people were found alive and taken to safer locations
