Korean film festival opens in London

A festival of South Korean films is opening in London today Sunday, the first of its kind in Europe.

The week long event will show films from one of East Asia's most thriving film industries, covering a wide range of contemporary Korean issues from the politics of the divided peninsular, to female sexuality in a conservative society.

A BBC arts correspondent says they have been selected to reflect the changes which are shaping modern South Korea.

But she says that while the country's film industry is enjoying a boom, with buoyant investment, South Korean film-makers ultimately want to gain an international audience.
