Europe's week in pictures
The news and the pictures from Europe over the last seven days have been predominantly grim, from conflict in the Balkans, floods in Eastern Europe, and the ravages of foot-and-mouth disease in the West.
![]() Fighting in Macedonia spread on Wednesday to the country's second largest city, Tetovo
![]() The predominantly ethnic Albanian population demonstrated in support of guerrillas fighting in nearby mountain villages

![]() The smoke from burning cattle filled the air
![]() Floods continued in Hungary and Ukraine - here a villager milks a cow in poverty-stricken western Ukraine
![]() Hungarian firemen moved in with disinfectant as the floods receded in Gulacs
![]() Chechens who hijacked a Russian plane in Istanbul were arrested in Saudi Arabia after the plane was stormed
![]() More happily, a couple married under water in San Sebastian, Spain
