Police keep criminals posted

Known criminals in central England are receiving a seasonal surprise -- a personal Christmas card from the local police force.

The cards are being sent to convicted burglars and violent offenders in the Birmingham area with the simple message -- 'thinking of you now and into the new year'.

The officers involved say they hope the message will act as a deterrent by reminding potential offenders that they are not forgotten at a time of year when burglaries and robberies traditionally increase.
