Darko Kovacevic

Darko Kovacevic
Darko Kovacevic's 24 goals helped Red Star Belgrade win the Yugoslavian league and cup double in 1995, and helped him to secure a lucrative move to Sheffield Wednesday.

But things failed to work out at Hillsborough, and he packed hs bags for Spain at the end of the season.

Kovacevic rediscovered his form in three seasons with Real Sociedad and was then involved in one of the highest profile transfers of last season with a 14m move to Juventus.

Although he has struggled to maintain his first team place, his ball skills and aerial power are unquestionable.

Kovacevic first played for his country against Argentina in December 1994, and his predatory instincts have secured him a regular starting place.

He contributed greatly in the Euro 2000 qualifiers and could be a real star this summer.
