Miroslav Djukic

Miroslav Djukic
An experienced and reliable defender, Miroslav Djukic began his career with FK RAD before moving to Deportivo La Coruņa, and has established himself as a regular in the Yugoslav team.

He is now in his ninth season in Spain's Primera Liga, and is still remembered for his penalty miss against present club Valencia which cost Deportivo the 1993-94 championship.

Although not the quickest of defenders, Djukic is comfortable and the ball, solid in the tackle and prefers to play as a sweeper.

He was the only Yugoslav player to start and finish all eight qualifying matches for Euro 2000, picking up just one booking in the process.

Djukic made his international debut in a 1-1 draw with Turkey in February 1991, and joined Valencia in 1997.
