Goran Djorovic

Goran Djorovic
An attacking defender, Goran Djorovic combines strength and speed as part of Yugoslavia's natural counter-attacking game.

He joined Red Star Belgrade in 1993 from Pristina, helping them to a league and cup double in 1995, and cup victories in 1996 and 1997.

Djorovic broke into the Yugolsav squad during the latter half of 1994, making his debut against Brazil in December that year.

An extremely reliable and consistent performer, he signed for Celta Vigo in1997 and his form was transferred on to the international stage, playing excellently in all four matches in the 1998 World Cup.

Another versatile player who can play as a centre back or as a forward pressing left-back.

Some critics argue he does not push forward enough, but Djorovic is recognised as one of the most gifted Yugoslavian defenders - only three goals being conceded in the five Euro 2000 qualifying games he was involved in.
