Rustu Recber

Rustu Recber
Will not have fond memories of Euro 96, where he conceded five goals in three games before Turkey were eliminated.

But he is a renowned shot stopper with an excellent positional sense, using his 6'3" height well to come for high balls.

Arrived at Fenerbahce in 1994 from second division Antalyaspor, where he had already been spotted by national coach Fatih Terim, and was called into the under-21 side as cover for Engin Ipekgolu.

When Ipekgolu broke his leg late in the season, Recber took over and has not looked back.

Made his international debut as a substitute in October 1994, playing the last three minutes of a 5-0 win against Finland. Two months later, he made his full debut in a 2-1 home defeat to Switzerland.

He kept clean sheets in five of the eight qualifiers for Euro 96, including both games against Germany.

Has a championship winners medal with Fenerbahce from 1996 where he played behind Jes Hogh, now with Chelsea.

The following year, he was part of the Fenerbahce side that became the first team to win a European tie at Old Trafford.
