Erdem in Real deal
![]() Erdem is changing his Galatasaray colours
Turkish international Arif Erdem is heading for Real Sociedad.
The striker has put pen to paper on a three-year contract with the Spanish club, worth in the region of £2.5 million. Erdem has been attracting interest from a number of clubs thanks to his exploits with Galatasaray. He has been with the Istanbul-based side since 1990 and played a key role in their victory over Arsenal in Copenhagen last month, which gave them the Uefa Cup. Champions Erdem completed his move to Spain after meeting with Real Sociedad club president Luis Uranga at Turkey's Euro 2000 headquarters and passing a medical. Real Sociedad have twice been crowned Spanish champions but struggled this season, finishing only 13th in the first division. They are obviously keen to strengthen their squad and have already acquired another Turkish international, Fenerbahce midfielder Tayfun Korkut. Turkey are currently preparing for their second game of Euro 2000 after losing their opening match 2-1 to Italy in controversial circumstances.
