Larsson facing Euro despair
Henrik Larsson
Henrik Larsson's comeback bid is on hold
Sweden striker Henrik Larsson is facing a race against time to be fit for Euro 2000 - and his comeback plans will not include club action for Glasgow Celtic.

Celtic's director of football operations and caretaker manager Kenny Dalglish has ruled out any prospect of Larsson playing for the Scottish side in any of their competitive or friendly matches before the European finals.

He has not made any decision on Euro 2000, but I know he will not be available for us

Larsson, who broke his leg in the UEFA Cup while playing for Celtic in Lyon last October, suffered a new setback in March and has not featured in the team since.

Dalglish insists it remains Larsson's own decision whether he remains in contention for Euro 2000.

He trained with Celtic last week, but Dalglish insists they were "very light" sessions and were not indicative of his true fitness.

Dalglish said: "He has not made any decision on Euro 2000, but I know he will not be available for us."

Henrik will make his own decision about the tournament and tell the Swedish coach himself.

"I'm sure that everyone will act in a professional manner. Henrik is too sensible to take a risk," added Dalglish.
