Hagi likely to face Germany
![]() Hagi looks set to take on Germany
Romania captain Gheorghe Hagi is back in full training ahead of his country's Euro 2000 kick-off against Germany.
There were fears that he would be unable to play due to a groin injury, but team doctor Pompiliu Popescu said: "Hagi will play on Monday." According to Romanian newspaper Liberatea, Hagi participated in a training session of "maximum intensity" at the team's Belgian base of Grimbergen. Hagi had trained separately from the rest of the squad for the past week, and also skipped Saturday's friendly 2-1 win over Greece. Boost Fellow midfielder Dorinel Munteanu believes Germany will be unable to cope with Gheorghe Hagi in their group A match. "At the moment there is not one German player who is capable of stopping Hagi," said Munteanu.
"We are probably all playing together with him for the last time in a major tournament and we really want to do our best - we are confident." Romania face Germany on 13 June, followed by Portugal on 17 June and England three days later.
