Stig Inge Bjornebye

Retired from international football in 1998 to devote more time to his family and his club career, but has been persuaded to return for Euro 2000.

Coach Nils Johan Semb decided that Bjornebye's experience and left foot was indispensable to his squad.

The 30-year-old has gained 70 caps but is yet to score an international goal.

He is a solid left-back who is capable of whipping in excellent crosses from the left flank, but he lacks pace.

Graham Souness signed Bjornebye for Liverpool in 1992 from Rosenborg, and although he took time to establish himself at the club, he went on to make 182 appearances.

Bjornebye was loaned out to Danish club Brondby in March this year following a season of limited first-team opportunities under Gerard Houllier.
