Norway coach Nils Johan Semb has criticised both the Yugolsav team and referee Hugh Dallas after his team's 1-0 defeat.
In a what proved to be a scrappy, ill-tempered game, four Yugoslavs were booked, with two Norwegians also shown yellow cards. Late on, Yugoslavian substitute Kezman suffered the ignominy of being sent off just moments after coming on for Mijatovic. "We couldn't find our rhythm because of the antics of the Yugoslavs," Semb complained after the Group C match in Liege. "I thought the referee got tricked by them too much but it's not his fault we lost 1-0 and I am very disappointed.
Semb added: "We also picked up a lot of injuries, but that's football for you." Physical battle Meanwhile, "Yugoslav coach Vujadin Boskov hailed what he described as his team's "fantastic victory" over Norway. "My players died on the pitch, they fought all the way," said an elated Boskov after the victory which took the Yugoslavs to the top of Euro 2000 Group C.
Yugoslavia now face Spain, who beat Slovenia 2-1 earlier in the day, in their final group match on Wednesday while Norway will qualify if they beat the Slovenian's on the same day.
