Peter van Vossen

The Zierikzee-born hitman has a wealth of European and international experience having played in Holland, Belgium, Turkey and Scotland.

He played for Ajax in the midst of their mid-1990s glory years before a high-profile move to Istanbulspor. His name is familiar to supporters of Glasgow Rangers who signed him in 1996 in exchange for Oleg Salenko.

The move to Scotland wasn't a success and two years later he was shunted to Feyenoord as a makeweight in the deal that brought Giovanni Van Bronckhorst to Ibrox.

On his departure he slammed Scottish football for being na´ve and 10 years behind the rest of Europe - although he is best remembered for one of the worst-ever misses in an Old Firm clash.

One of five players sent-off in the friendly against Brazil last summer. Days earlier he had scored a brilliant solo effort in a 2-2 draw against the World Cup runners-up.

In 1993, Van Vossen stepped up to take an 85th minute penalty equaliser at Wembley that helped Holland qualify for the World Cup in America ahead of Graham Taylor's England - and he started the quarter-final defeat by Brazil at USA 94.
