Michael Reiziger

Michael Reiziger
Of the three Dutch defenders at the Nou Camp, Reiziger is the one with the fewest worries about his first-team place.

Happy with the ball on the deck and blessed with good pace, his man-to-man marking is second to none.

Like former Ajax team-mates Kluivert and Bogarde, he moved on to Milan in the summer of 1996, only to struggle to make an impact in Serie A.

After playing just seven games in his first season he was grateful to move to Barca with Louis van Gaal.

Things began slowly in Catalonia and although he was part of the squad that won the Spanish Double, he went into the World Cup in France two years ago uncertain of his club future.

Not any more. Playing at centre-back, he has cemented his place in the side and has peformed to a consistently high standard.

Frank Rijkaard prefers to use him as right-back - as you can afford to do when you have Jaap Stam and Frank de Boer at your disposal - and his forays down the right flank add another dimension to the potent attacking threat of the team.
