Frank Rijkaard
With no coaching experience outside his role as assistant to Guus Hiddink at France 98, his every decision will be dissected and analysed without mercy. Already there are those who would rather he return to the underwear business he set up when he brought his glittering career to an end five years ago after Ajax had lifted the Champions Cup. The record under Rijkaard is not good. Holland recently went 11 straight games without a win in the friendlies that preceded the finals. The 1-1 draw against Croatia was singled out for particular criticism. But if he lacks for coaching experience, Rijkaard's legendary reputation should at least help maintain order and discipline within the ranks. How else could it be for a player who, as well as winning any number of domestic honours with Ajax and AC Milan, was at the heart of the Dutch side that last won at the European Championships 12 years ago.
