Christian Ziege

Christian Ziege
Well known to followers of English football, Middlesbrough's Christian Ziege is the left wing-back who was one of the stars of Euro 96.

He opened the tournament with an excellent trademark goal against the Czech Republic, cutting in from the left and shooting powerfully into the corner, and played in every match in the tournament.

Ziege made his international debut against Brazil in 1993, after playing at youth, Olympic and Under-21 levels.

He helped Bayern to the 1994 and 1997 Bundesliga titles, and joined AC Milan on a free transfer one year later.

But after two barren years he moved to Middlesbrough where his magic touch is returning and he has made a name for himself as an expert at direct free-kicks.
