David Trezeguet
Trezeguet is regarded as a gifted but inconsistent striker and although he was a member of France's World Cup winning squad his post-tournament report read "could do better".
Raised in Argentina, Trezeguet joined Monaco as a 17-year-old and despite being continually linked with a switch to Italy, he has so far remained loyal to the South of France.
Trezeguet's ultimate strength is his blinding pace although his critics bemoan his wastefulness in front of goal, 18 strikes in 27 matches for his club in 97-98 and 22 league goals this season prove he has what it takes to find the back of the net.
Many people forget he is still just 22, and if he can establish himself as one of his country's main strikers at Euro 2000, then the youngster will doubtless have a big future ahead of him.
