Tony Adams
Tony Adams has established himself as England's defensive kingpin over the last 10 years.
He is looked upon as a shining example in the British game and with his strong heading ability, well-timed tackles and defensive organisational skills, he will be one of the most accomplished defenders at Euro 2000.
He defied alcohol and personal problems to lead Arsenal to a league and cup double in 1998, and is the natural choice as England captain when Alan Shearer is not available.
However, this may be the Adams' last major tournament as injuries have threatened to end his career over the past couple of seasons.
