David Seaman

David Seaman succeeded the seemingly irreplaceable Peter Shilton, and despite a number of managerial changes, the Arsenal stopper has retained his place as England's number one.

Keegan is a great admirer of the hugely experienced Seaman and is willing to overlook the in-form Martyn for Seaman's know-how.

His safe pair of hands and dependable shot-stopping ensure he is rarely exposed when talents are tested, and he thrives on the big match atmosphere.

As well as being a very accomplished player, he is also a calming influence on the back four, and at the ripe old age of 36, this probably represents his last chance to shine for England.

With well over 50 caps to his name, the former QPR keeper, who made his international bow against Saudi Arabia in 1988, looks likely to provide England's last line of defence in Euro 2000.
